The latest battleground poll reveals that President Trump is still leading Joe Biden in the crucial swing state of Michigan, with exactly five months to go before the November election.

As Breitbart reports, the poll by Mitchell Research shows Trump at 49% to Biden’s 47% in a head-to-head matchup. When the poll includes the three major third-party candidates – independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent candidate Cornel West, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein – Trump leads Biden with 46% to 45%. In the five-way poll, 5% support Kennedy, while 1% each choose West and Stein.

Steve Mitchell, president of Mitchell Research and Communications Inc., says that the reason Trump leads Biden in the two-way race is “because he has solidified the Republican base better than Biden has solidified the Democratic base.”

Trump is getting 92% of the GOP vote compared to Biden’s 89% of the Democrats,” Mitchell explained further. “More importantly, Trump is getting 9% of the Democrats while Biden is getting only 4% of the Republicans. Biden is leading with the important group of voters, independents 49% – 43%.”

Numerous other polls have increasingly reflected Democratic dissatisfaction with Biden; a recent Rasmussen poll shows that 54% of Democrats would like to see Biden replaced as the party’s presidential nominee this year.

The survey in question was conducted before the controversial New York verdict which found President Trump “guilty” on 34 counts related to a non-disclosure agreement with Stormy Daniels in 2016. However, virtually all polls since the verdict have indicated that the outcome has had little to no effect on Trump’s base of support.

Michigan, worth 15 electoral votes, is considered by both parties to be one of the most crucial states in the path to victory in November. Trump won the state against Hillary Clinton by just .22% in 2016 – a margin of just under 11,000 votes – while Biden allegedly won the state in 2020 by about 2.8%, just over 154,000 votes. However, widespread and credible accusations of voter fraud in the state, particularly in the city of Detroit, have led to many questioning whether or not the results in 2020 were legitimate.
